The St. Dominic' Roman Catholic Preschool, which has served the parish of St. David in Grenada for decades, was destroyed by fire on August 13, 2011. For almost six years, classes were housed in the assembly hall of the St. Dominic' Roman Catholic School. Now the Preschool has a new building, thanks to funding from the Caribbean Development Bank through the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF). The new building, which was officially handed over in March 2017, was built with a grant of USD160,500 from BNTF and a contribution of USD8,500 from the Government of Grenada. The Project involved the demolition of the old structure and the Construction of the new building, which includes four classrooms, a sick bay, an indoor play area, as well as a room for the Head Teacher. A retaining wall was also constructed on the eastern side of the building to support an embankment, and fencing was placed around the facility. In April, the Grenada Government Information Service premiered a special feature, “Out of the Ashes - St. Dominic' RC Preschool", sharing the story of the school' rebuilding. Watch below.
