Improving water supply in the towns of Dennery North, population 12,599 is a priority of the Government of Saint Lucia.  Water shortages used to severely disrupt household and business activities and translated into time lost from school, work, and other important activities. In 2016 and 2018, the Caribbean Development Bank, through the Eighth Water (Vieux Fort Water Supply Redevelopment) Project, the Government of Mexico, and the Agence Française de Développement, upgraded the redevelopment of the Dennery North Water Supply System to meet existing and projected demand, and to protect public health.
