The proposed Draft Environmental and Social Safeguards Procedures have been revised based on the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) experience, in the use of its Environmental Review Guidelines and the Guidelines for the Social Analysis of Projects which was completed in 1994 and 2004 respectively. The primary objective is to institutionalise through a formal process, CDB’s objectives and principles with respect to the management of environmental and social issues in its operations. This will ensure that the Bank and its Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs) and Borrowers (defined for this purpose as recipients of CDB loans and grants) manage their social and environment performance in a way that will ensure positive and successful outcomes for long-term development sustainability.
