This conference will explore the possible opportunities and costs associated with increased use of the renminbi in the Caribbean. It will draw insights from existing examples of renminbi use in commercial trade between The People’s Republic of China and other countries, and also examine how renminbi use could enhance trade facilitation, trade finance, banking relationships, and tourism.

The seminar is expected to engage stakeholders from various private and public institutions that are critical to the success of cross-border payments in renminbi. Stakeholders include the regional private sector, Chinese and regional commercial banks, the People’s Bank of China, Chinese Development Banks, as well as regional government representatives and central banks.
