CDB extends condolences on the passing of former Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Sir James Mitchell
The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is saddened to learn of the passing of the former Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Right Honourable Sir James Fitz-Allen Mitchell.
Sir Mitchell was a distinguished statesman who dedicated his life to building a nation and forming institutions for social and economic progress. He was instrumental in establishing St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a nation state while supporting the strengthening of linkages across the community of Caribbean states.
A strong advocate for the Caribbean integration process, he was an early supporter of the CDB. As Prime Minister and Finance Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines from 1984 to 2000 and Premier of St. Vincent from 1972 to 1973, Sir James Mitchell served as Governor or Alternate Governor on CDB’s Board of Governors. He was an active participant in Board of Governors meetings and a good friend of the Bank.
CDB extend condolence to his family, as well as the Government and the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
