Contractors, suppliers and consultants in Brazil are now better equipped to take advantage of procurement opportunities available through projects funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

CDB, in collaboration with Brazil’s Ministry of Economy, and various private sector associations staged information sessions about the CDB, its work and potential commercial opportunities in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro from October 1-3, 2019.

Brazil’s Secretary of International Economic Affairs, Erivaldo Gomes noted, “The Caribbean Development Bank's recent mission to prospect for opportunities with the Brazilian private sector is an important demonstration of the Bank's engagement with our country, which will surely result in increased participation of Brazilian companies in the CDB's procurements and the sharing of Brazilian expertise in priority sectors for development in the Caribbean region.”

CDB’s Douglas Fraser, Head of Procurement said the sessions provided Brazilian firms with “pertinent information on doing business in the Caribbean; CDB’s procurement policy and guidelines; and our work with partners in key sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, education and climate resilience.”

Participants at a session in São Paulo described it as informative. Associação Paulista de Empresas de Consultoria e serviços em Saneamento e Meio Ambiente (APECS) Development Director, Danny Dalberson de Oliveira; Technical Director, Lucas Vannini Santesso; and Environmental Director, Paulo Roberto de Almeida Kyriakakis, said it was very useful to learn how the Bank works and the services Brazilian firms can provide to help the Caribbean.
