CDB Co-hosts Expert Group Meeting on Multidimensional Poverty Measurement

Experts from across the Region, Central America and North America have gathered in Barbados for a two-day meeting to formulate an enhanced multidimensional poverty methodology for the Caribbean.
The meeting co-hosted by Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) commenced today, Thursday, December 6, 2012, at the CDB Conference Centre.
At the meeting, welcome and opening remarks were offered by UNDP Resident Coordinator ad interim, Ms. Khin-Sandi Lwin; UNDP Deputy Resident Representative ad interim, Ms. Lara Blanco; CDB Division Chief, Social Sector Division, Mrs. Yvonne Moses-Grant; and OECS Secretariat Director, Social and Sustainable Development Division, Mr. Bentley Browne.
During the two-day meeting, representatives from a number of the Bank's Borrowing Member Countries and Development Partners in the Region will focus on several areas including current methodologies for measuring poverty in the Caribbean; poverty measurement and sustainable human development; poverty measurement and analysis by gender and age in the Caribbean and poverty measurement and social protection.
