Overview
The Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana has received financing from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in the form of a Loan and a Grant towards the cost of the Ministry of Education – Hospitality Training Institute Project. This is an initiative that was birthed out of the growing demand for services in the Hospitality Sector that will provide opportunities for skills upgrading and lifelong learning by offering competence-based training, assessment and certification methodologies that meet Regional Standards and are “fit for purpose”.
The Project is estimated to cost eleven million, six hundred and fifty-six thousand United States dollars (USD11,656,000). Payments by CDB will be made only at the request of the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and upon approval by the CDB, and will be subject in all respects to the terms and conditions of the Financing Agreement. The Financing Agreement prohibits withdrawal from the financing account for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any import of goods, if such payment or import, to the knowledge of CDB, is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations. No party other than the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana shall derive any rights from the Financing Agreement or have any claim to the proceeds of the Financing.
