Webinar for communicators on covering domestic violence and the COVID-19 pandemic

PAHO/WHO and the Caribbean Development Bank, in association with the Caribbean Broadcasting Union and Internews, invites journalists and communicators to participate in the third of a series of four training sessions on how to ensure informative, responsible, safe and evidence-based coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on mental health-related topics.

This session will explore the role of journalists and communicators in reporting about domestic violence in particular, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will be provided with tips and recommendations on how to use data ethically and efficiently, avoid stigma and discrimination when reporting, ensure technical rigor, protect those communicating and their sources and prioritize self-care and mental health. The webinar will also include a discussion with Caribbean journalists on the topic.
