The VYBZING youth outreach programme made a stop in Jamaica as part of the agenda of the 46th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

The Bank ran an Animated Music Video Challenge under the theme, “Beam Me Up with ICTs.” Young animators created two-minute videos, which explored how information and communication technologies (ICTs) could transform the cultural, economic, social and educational lives of youth in Jamaica.

Ikem Smith won first place for his ‘Funky Beam School Band‘ submission. The second prize was awarded to Leighton Campbell for ‘ICT Force,’ while Rushane Jones’ ‘Public Service Announcement About ICT Awareness‘ captured the third place prize.

In addition, from April 13 to 15, 2016, 60 enthusiastic young Jamaicans representing all 14 parishes of the country gathered at the Jamaica Pegasus in Kingston for the 2016 VYBZING Youth Forum, which focused on ICT entrepreneurship.
