St. Kitts and Nevis to host CDB's 45th Annual Meeting

The 45th Annual Meeting of the Caribbean Development Bank's (CDB) Board of Governors takes place on May 20 and 21, 2015 in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis. Under the theme, ‘Facilitating Growth: Transforming Regional Logistics Infrastructure and Encouraging Youth Entrepreneurship,' the meeting will bring together Governors, Directors and other representatives from the Bank's 27 member countries. During the event, CDB will release its Annual Report, Development Effectiveness Review and Special Development Fund Report which provide a comprehensive look at the Bank's performance in 2014. Two major studies will be released entitled: ‘Making Air Transport Work Better for the Caribbean' and ‘Youth are the Future: The Imperative of Youth Employment for Sustainable Development in the Caribbean.' Two seminars exploring the findings will also be staged, with panelists drawn from civil society, public and private sector. The Annual Meeting will be preceded by the 2015 VYBZING Youth Forum from May 13-15, 2015 and the 16th William G. Demas Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, May 19. The focus of the VYBZING Forum will be under the banner, ‘Creative Entrepreneurship and Youth: Unleashing Potential and Growth,' and will expose youths ages 18-35 to business opportunities in the creative industries. Professor the Honourable Gordon Shirley, President & CEO of the Jamaica Shipping Association and former principal of the University of the West Indies' Mona Campus will deliver the William G. Demas Memorial Lecture addressing the topic, ‘Rethinking Caribbean Logistics: Driving Forces; New Paradigms'. The lecture will be held at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. The Opening Ceremony, lecture and seminars will also be broadcast live on the Annual Meeting's soon to be launched dedicated microsite, www.caribank.org/BoG45.
