COP 29: SuRGE and the Caribbean Energy Transition

Oct 28, 2024

This one-hour side event:

  • Raises awareness about the new Supporting Resilient Green Energy (SuRGE) programme and the types of support it is already providing (and can/will provide to additional CDB client countries).
  • Increases interest among client countries and other energy sector stakeholders to engage with CDB/SuRGE and benefit from its support. CDB also used the event to encourage other partners to pursue similar or complementary programmes with CDB to further expand the pool of concessional resources to support the regional energy transition. In so doing, the side event aims to address the following guiding questions:
    • What is the new SuRGE programme?
    • What types of support are being/will be provided through SuRGE?
    • How does SuRGE address barriers that are inhibiting an inclusive sustainable energy transition?
    • How can/should energy sector stakeholders engage to support these efforts/goals?
